Listen to Your Heart


I don’t mean that in a Hallmark sort of way or as a reference to that 80’s song by Roxette. Literally “listen” to your heart rate by feeling your pulse. Is it racing? Why? Unless you’re exercising, you just got cut off in traffic, or you’re being chased by a wild animal, it should be beating at a relaxed pace.

Your heart and mind are connected and respond to stress in kind. Try some deep breathing or meditative activities to help ease your mind and to slow things down. Some people, with practice, can slow their heart rate just by thinking about it. Try it. You’ll be surprised how it clears your head!
